A broader importance of NOPR to the future of nuclear imaging.

چکیده
In their article published in this issue of The Journal of Nuclear Medicine (1), Hillner and coauthors once again emerge from the trove of data that is the National Oncologic PET Registry (NOPR) with valuable insights. This time, the investigators turned their attention to 7 cancers, plus a hodgepodge of rare tumors, for which Medicare still does not cover the use of PET for restaging or suspected recurrence or for evaluating patients’ response to treatment, except for PET facilities participating in Medicare’s coverage-with-evidence-development (CED) program. The principal finding of Hillner et al. is that, in comparing data accrued during 2006–2009

CMS final decision on PET in solid tumors.
O n Tuesday, June 11, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a final decision ending the coverage with evidence development (CED) requirement for 18F-FDG PET imaging of solid tumors (CAG-00181R4). The final decision removed the requirement for prospective data collection by the National Oncologic PET Registry (NOPR) for those cancers or cancer types that had been previously...
متن کاملDevelopment of Ga-67 Maltolate Complex as an Imaging Agent
Due to the antitumor activity of Gallium MAL complex, as well as recent findings on new targeted biomolecules in malignant cells through this complex, the development of radiolabeled gallium complex for future imaging studies was targeted. Ga-67 labeled 3-hydroxy-2-methyl-4H-pyran-4-onate (Ga-67 MAL) was prepared using freshly prepared Ga-67 chloride and 3-hydroxy-2-methyl-4H-pyran-4-onate in a...

متن کاملExtra osseous uptake of 99mTc-MDP in psoas muscle on bone scintigraphy: Importance of SPECT/CT imaging
Incidental extra-osseous uptake of 99mTc-MDP on bone scintigraphy has been frequently reported in the literature; however, calcification of the psoas muscle is a rare condition, which has been reported on magnetic resonance (MR) and computed tomography (CT) imagings. Here we report a 67-year-old woman with acute paraplegia and low back pain who was referred for a 99mTc-MDP...
متن کاملThe value of myocardial perfusion imaging with Tc-99m MIBI for the prediction of perfusion improvement after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty
Introduction: Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) is an effective method for revascularizing of stenotic coronary vessels. Lack of response to this treatment, either in symptomatic or asymptomatic patients, is usually due to incomplete revascularization, restenosis, and/or irreversibility of myocardial perfusion. Introduction of a noninvasive metho...
